Your Lakewood orthodontists
Dr. Joel Brodsky attended UCLA and received his doctor of dental surgery degree in 1974. He then headed across the country to Rochester, New York, to study orthodontics at the Eastman Dental Center - University of Rochester, earning both a certificate in orthodontics and a masters of science degree in 1976. He has held an academic appointment at the UCLA School of Dentistry, donating time as a clinical instructor in orthodontics and overseeing student research in the field.
Dr. Brodsky strongly believes in using cutting-edge technology to create a better orthodontic experience, and has lectured on this topic at dental schools and meetings across the country. His current research centers on 3D digital imaging, the Pendulum appliance, and Invisalign® treatment. He is also associated with the cleft palate teams at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, Orthopedic Hospital Los Angeles, and Southern California Kaiser Permanente.
Dr. Charles Brodsky attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in applied sciences. Upon graduating, he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the UOP Dental School. Following dental school, Dr. Brodsky was ready for a change, and moved to Massachusetts to complete his orthodontics residency at the Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He received a specialty certificate in orthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry degree in 2005.
While training in Boston, Dr. Brodsky received extensive training and certification in Invisalign®, tissue management with lasers, as well as the placement and utilization of orthodontic mini-screw implants (TADs). Orthodontists who train at Boston University are taught to treat the most complicated of orthodontic malocclusions, including patients who need orthognathic jaw surgery in conjunction with orthodontics. Dr. Brodsky believes technology and new techniques are able to push orthodontics to new levels, and enjoys learning and implementing new things in our practice for a better orthodontic experience overall.
Lakewood Braces
Did you know that traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools available? Ceramic or metal brackets are attached to your teeth, then connected by wires and tiny elastics or rubber bands. Through regular adjustments with Dr. Brodsky, these components work together to gently apply pressure, which will gradually move your teeth into the desired positions.
Lakewood braces are an excellent choice for correcting a number of tooth issues, from simple and complex. Traditional braces can sometimes work faster at closing gaps and aligning teeth than other options might, and this can shorten your overall treatment time. In addition, braces don't require some of the more complicated technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can. This makes Lakewood braces a cost-effective orthodontic option for patients on a budget.
Lakewood Invisalign
The Lakewood Invisalign system utilizes a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually shift the teeth into alignment instead of using brackets and bands. This option is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists making it the top alternative to traditional braces.
Invisalign is most effective when used to correct many of the most common orthodontic issues. For certain more complex cases, Invisalign may not be the best option. A free consultation with Brodsky Orthodontics will be able to help determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and designed to fit snugly over the patient's teeth. The trays are nearly invisible and are typically changed out every 1-2 weeks for the next aligner in the series to keep the teeth moving in the right direction! Aligners must be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment in order for them to have the best results. If you don't wear your aligners as directed you might negatively impact your results, and make your orthodontic treatment process longer.
